Can it really be one year since we started the Aureus Medical blog? They say that time flies when you’re having fun – and even though this past year has not been easy for many people because of the job market and the overall economy – life has been okay for most in our profession and we here at Aureus have been having a lot of fun working with all of you during this last year.
Today’s contract employee and direct hire markets are 180 degrees different from the market two years ago. Back then, there were an abundance of jobs and high demand for both contract and full-time staff. Pay was better, benefits were better, and employees had all the leverage. However, the market has shifted drastically over the past couple years.
No matter how many assignments you’ve worked, it can be a nerve wrecking experience when you arrive on your first day. Make sure to do as much as possible to prepare for your first few days. Here are a few suggestions that will help you prepare for a new assignment

With much of our communication taking place through email or voicemails nowadays it’s very important to make sure your message is clear. Whether you’re communicating with your recruiter or the daytime manager in the ER, it’s very easy for communication to suffer.
Everyone seems to be on Facebook, Twitter, or one of the many other social networking sites out there. These are great ways to keep in touch with friends and family.
